Focaccia is an italian word, it is a flat oven-baked bread which may be topped with herbs or other ingredients like onion, cheese and meat or legumes.
Focaccia is related to pizza, but not considered to be the same. The pizza dough is thinner than focaccia. This Focaccia With Onions and Garlic is sweet and moist, good for a few days if you keep it in a closed container.



  • 1.65 lb white flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 15 fl warm water
  • 1×0.25 ounces dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

Ingredients for topping

  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 red onion( sliced )
  1. In a bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water , add the olive oil and the salt and let it stand for about 10 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl combine the yeast mixture with flour , stir well to combine ( using a fork ) When the dough comes together like a ball, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it briefly for about 5 minutes
  3. Cover it with a cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 45 minutes.
  4. Deflate the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface, knead it  briefly again.
  5. Grease the baking sheet and using your hands, flatten it out
  6. Add onion on top and press it into the dough , then add the minced garlic and sprinkle with olive oil.
  7. Bake Focaccia With Onions and Garlic in the preheated oven at 428 F for about 15, 20 minutes. When the focaccia is done, sprinkle with olive oil and season with sea salt .
